On 5 June 2013 Redland City Council again voted against a proposal to destroy Mount Cotton by establishing a superquarry. This win was not achieved by a few local residents but by the 8300 people who wrote a letter, signed a petition, lobbied their local Councillor or State Government member or just helped out. No Mount Cotton Superquarry would like to thank all those who took the time to help, whether they wrote letters and submissions against the superquarry or gave freely of their time. A big thank you to those who contacted their local Councillor and requested these to represent their community and vote against the quarry. We hope that you have raised a glass in celebration for we certainly raised one in toast to you last night. A big thank you to the Councillors who listened to and supported their community, and especially to Cr Julie Talty. This is a significant win but the fight is expected to continue: We and the unregarded wildlife continue to need support.
