On 9/18, Adams County will open a Disaster Assistance Center at the Commerce City Recreation Center to connect victims with flood-relief resources, including how to apply for FEMA assistance. The center, located at 6060 E. Parkway Drive in Commerce City, will be open 9/18-9/21 from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. daily. Based on community need, hours may be expanded; for more information, visit adcogov.org or c3gov. Resources will include small business assistance, humanitarian aid, temporary housing, insurance counseling, flood damage assessments and more. Representatives will also be on hand to help individuals register for financial assistance from FEMA. Adams County residents may be eligible to receive financial aid from FEMA if total county damages exceed a certain threshold. For that reason, it is important that all residents and property owners who have experienced flood-related damage or losses report their information to the Disaster Assistance Center. Damages might include expenses related to wet basements, water-damaged vehicles, structural damages, and crop damages. County property owners unable to visit Adams County’s Disaster Assistance Center are encouraged to begin the process of applying for FEMA assistance by registering at either 1.800.621.FEMA (3362) or at disasterassistance.gov. There is no cost to register for these programs. Anyone who was impacted by the floods should register with FEMA to learn about what assistance might be available to you. There is no obligation to use these services if you are approved. How to register: • Apply online at disasterassistance.gov. • Apply via smartphone at m.fema.gov. • Call the registration phone number at 1.800.621.3362. Those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY should call 1.800.462.7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS) should call 1.800.621.3362. What information you need: • Social Security number • Address of the damaged home or apartment • Description of the damage Information about insurance coverage • A current contact telephone number • An address where you can get mail • Bank account and routing numbers if you want direct deposit of any financial assistance
