On Being Human: What is an indication of both wisdom and humility? When someones desire to learn from others exceeds his desire to prove how much he knows or whether he is right. I know this first hand as I spent many years more concerned with proving what I know or winning arguments than I did listening and learning. Its a tough attitude to overcome, especially in a society where pride, arrogance, and winning are glorified at the expense of humility, open mindedness and cooperation. Imagine, if just for one day, all our politicians, diplomats, corporate leaders and just plain folks decided to listen and learn from each other rather than compete. What do you think would be the result?
