On February 28, 2001 I was at my desk working away when the building shook. I watched concrete bend and printers get thrown off of shelves. I heard windows break and held on for my life underneath my desk as the building swayed. I will never forget that day, going home to see my house in shambles, broken dishes in the cupboards and my TV set lying broken on the floor. At the time, cell phone service didnt work for hours but luckily my wife and I knew exactly what our family plan was and that we had enough food and water to last us several days if we needed it. Tomorrow at 10:17 we will be participating in the Great Washington ShakeOut drill to be prepared when the ground shakes again. Do you know exactly where you will Drop, Cover and Hold on when an earthquake hits? Were hoping youll join us to help build that muscle memory so you can react with immediacy when an earthquake happens. After the drill, take the time to put together a family disaster plan, establish an out of area contact and create an emergency kit with at least 3-days worth of food, water and other supplies to be prepared for when the big one happens.
