On Friday 31st Oct between 10.30am - 12.30pm there will be a panel discussion at the Friends Meeting House, St Giles, Oxford, OX1 3LW on the subject of - Whose Death is it Anyway? | Honouring end of life wishes for people with dementia. The government suggested that by 2014 every person with dementia living in England should agree with the statement: ‘I am confident my end of life wishes will be respected. I can expect a good death.’ If you have dementia, or think that you could have in the future, how confident do you feel that your end of life wishes will be honoured? An expert panel will talk about a range of issues and concerns arising from this subject. Dawn Brooker chairs, Director of Dementia Studies, Worcester University. Dr. Jennifer Bute, former GP with young onset dementia, John Killick a leading exponent of the use of words and improvisation in dementia care is joined by Nigel George a lawyer specialising in end of life dilemmas and Dr Luke Solomons, Consultant in Old Age Liaison Psychiatry.
