On Friday, April 25th, Lyndon Institute hosted their 5th Annual Benefit Dance Show. This year’s event included LI’s Jazz, Ballet and Company dancers and participants from Dance Express, Dina Danielsons Modern Dance Company, Silver Illusion Dance Team, and St. Johnsbury Ballet Studio. Dancers from Lamoille Union High School, under the direction of Nichole Lefaivre-Damon, Class of 2004, also performed. The event raised nearly $1,100 for the Burklyn Arts Council which supports the arts in area schools. Past recipients of LI’s support have been Camp Kaizen, Camp Laughing Turtle, Powers Park and the St Johnsbury Rec. Center, and Northern Physical Therapy which has been instrumental in teaching the dancers to be more efficient in their movements and consults on injuries and injury prevention. The next dance event for LI students is the Spring Recital on May 16th. I hope you can come out to support their hard work. LI’s Dance Instructor Rebecca McGregor said after the event, “The dancers and I are happy to give back to our local organizations and promote youth wellness, exercise and arts activities each year!”
