On House Resolution183 calling for a Task-force to review the CVG - TopicsExpress

On House Resolution183 calling for a Task-force to review the CVG Governance, I would like to make a few points of clarification, the bill DOES NOT CALL FOR. BOARD RESTRUCTURE, AND Iwas not a knee jerk reaction or done in collaboration or with concerns for any ones political aspirations or policies. The bill request had been in the works with LRC staff and drafters for over a month or more. Much thought was given to the wording. The bill does not create a new board or another government bureaucracy but a task force with a short 6 months life. I would also like to correct assumptions and responses made by others, the bill DOES NOT call for Board restructure but a prudent review...and then after review make recommendations, IF ANY... Please see exact language in HCR 183 Section 1. The Legislative Research Commission is directed to create a Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Governance Task Force to meet during the 2014 legislative interim and to deliver a report, with recommendations for administrative or statutory changes, if any, to the Legislative Research Commission no later than December 1, 2014. Section 2. The task force shall: (1)Examine the current governance structure of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport; (2)Examine whether the current governance structure fosters effective regional cooperation and efficient management of the airport; (3)Examine other governance models of airport management to determine their efficacy;.. Folks, CVG is not only part of the infrastructure of NKY but provides jobs and lively hood to our families as well as critically vital to the ongoing economy of our region . In recent years CVG has come through the toughest of times following 911, airline mergers loss of over hundreds of flights. There so many success stores and CVG has much to be proud of. But after 50yrs and multifaceted recent issues it is only prudent to propose a review. Ask ourselves questions how can we do better. Louisville and Lexington operate with 10 and 11 member boards, CVG has 17 including voting and advisory members. Like CVG those airports have also also had their issues. Again, it is a review not an attack on any person but allows us all to understand better our past and where we are going in the future.
