On July 3rd, 1776, John Adams wrote in a letter to his wife Abigail Adams: "You will think me transported with enthusiasm; but I am not. I am well aware of the toil, and blood, and treasure, that it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of light and glory; I can see that the end is more than worth all the means, and that posterity will triumph, although you and I may rue, which I hope we shall not." Please enjoy Independence day and do not forget why we can enjoy this day, how many brave souls perished or suffered greatly to make it happen, and realize that we are quickly running towards a time when that same amount of courage and bravery will be inevitably required from us to once again defend her liberty.
