On March 3, 2014 Denis Berezovsky (appointed as commander-in-chief of the navy by Interim President Oleksandr Turchynov on 1 March 2014, serving for just one day before defecting to the Russian army) together with several Russian cossacks came to the high-rank officers of Ukrainian Navy and proposed them to join the Russian invasion army with promise of high salary (watch the video from 04.56). After the speech of rear-admiral Serhiy Hayduk, the officers rejected the demand and started to sing the Ukrainian anthem (on the video from 03.45). Thereafter they expelled Berezovsky together with those cossacks from the military base.
