On May 16, 1892, an article was printed in the New York Evening Sun which stated that the long partnership between Mrs. Stanton and Susan B. Anthony is about to be dissolved. After reading the article Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote a letter, with a twist of humor, to Susan B. Anthony letting her know their friendship would last a lifetime (and it did): Dear Susan The New York Sun had an article about you and me having dissolved partnership. Have you been getting a divorce out in Chicago without notifying me? I should like to know my present status. I shall not allow any such proceedings. I consider our relation for life, so make the best of it. Yours E.C.S
