On Monday December 29th, the funeral services for Gov. James Edwards will occur downtown. We will have limited road closures as the procession makes its way through the city. This will cause some traffic congestion and parking issues in the French Quarter area. Parking on Cumberland St from Church St to State St will be reserved for family and dignitaries. The procession will leave Stuhr’s funeral home at 232 Calhoun St at approximately 12:15 p.m. enroute to St. Phillip’s Church at 142 Church St. Road closures: Calhoun and Smith St Calhoun and Rutledge Ave Rutledge Ave and Bull St Rutledge Ave and Montagu St Rutledge Ave and Wentworth St Rutledge Ave and Beaufain St Rutledge Ave and Broad St Broad St and Logan St Broad St and King St Broad St and Meeting St Broad and Church St Church St and Chalmers St Church St and Queen St Immediately following the service (estimated to conclude at 1400 hours), the procession will leave St Phillip’s Church headed to Mt Pleasant for the interment Road Closures: Cumberland St and Church St Cumerbland St and State St Cumberland St and E. Bay St E. Bay St and Market St E. Bay St and Hasell St E. Bay St and George St E. Bay St and Calhoun St E. Bay St and Columbus St The entrances to the Ravenel Bridge from I-26 East, West, and Meeting St will also be stopped by SCHP until the procession gets up onto the Ravenel Bridge.
