On Monday evening, Truck and Rescue 57 went to Oxford to take part in a large scale drill at the Ware Presbyterian Complex. After a briefing at Union Fire Company Station 21, a simulated fire alarm was dispatched for the property. Engine 21-1 arrived and upgraded the event to a building fire, which sent the remainder of Station 21, West Grove Fire Company (22) and the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun (8) to the scene. Shortly after this dispatch, Cochranville Fire Company (27) and QFD units were sent to the scene. Truck 57 set up and laddered side B and the Rescue set up a secondary Rapid Intervention Team. Shortly after arrival, a MAYDAY was declared, putting the rescue crew and part of the truck crew to work inside. The downed firefighter was located by RIT 27 on the second floor. QFD firefighters assisted with packaging the FF in a stokes basket and moving him to the third floor. Once on the third floor, the FF was taken out to a balcony and placed onto the bucket of Truck 57 and removed to the ground. After all work was complete, a critique and debriefing was held on site. From the talk of the firefighters, this was a very good and realistic drill. Thanks to Union Fire Company for the invite.
