On October 6, 2014 Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus within the his official visit to the Republic of Belarus. At the meeting the sides expressed their satisfaction with the current level of dynamically developing bilateral political-economical relations on the basis of sincere friendship binding the two countries. While noting that the positions of two countries on many international issues are coinciding, the sides also discussed cooperation within the international organisations. Emphasing the importance of the inter-parliamentary ties in furthering the relations, the sides noted the necessity of encouraging the mutual parliamentary visits. At the meeting the sides had an exchange of views on the next meeting of the intergovernmental cooperation commission and the issues on its agenda, the expansion of treaty-legal base, mutual investments as well as the long-term economic projects. The sides noted the vast potential for cooperation in high technologies, different fields of the industry, agriculture, humanitarian and culturalal spheres between the countries. After the meeting Elmar Mammadyarov and Vladimir Makei held a joint press conference.
