On Saturday, November 8, 2014, members of the Southampton Orchestra, along with their families, attended a concert of the Stony Brook graduate orchestra at the Staller Center, on the campus of SUNY Stony Brook. Participants attended a pre-concert lecture before the concert. Works studied were by Mozart, Chopin, and Mahler. The lecture gave insight into the pieces to be performed later that evening. This trip was made possible due to a grant that SUNY Stony Brook received to assist our students to experience a fine musical ensemble and see one of the top graduate musical schools in their own backyard. This concert was performed to a sold-out crowd. The students and their families, along with orchestra director Mrs. Caine, thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
