On Sunday, November 16, SAMHIN and its team participated in the BAPS Charities Health Fair in the Swaminarayan Mandir, in Robbinsville, New Jersey. Various professionals and specialties, including Mental Health, served over 150 participants. Many individuals benefitted from the services provided to them. We thank Dr. Akshar N Patel and the entire team of BAPS Charities for hosting a very well-organized Health Fair, and, for highlighting the importance of mental health for our community. Dr. Makhija, President of SAMHIN, led his team of volunteers in establishing an engaging dialogue between the professionals and participants. SAMHIN created a confidential and non-judgmental environment for the participants to share their stories, concerns, and questions pertaining to mental health. Three psychiatrists, a clinical psychologist, a clinician, and a certified health coach, helped and counseled participants who presented with a broad range of problems including stress, depression, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and other problems. Dr. Makhija and the entire SAMHIN Board sincerely appreciates Dr. Prakash Amin, Darshana Majmudar, Suruchi Saini, Amit Bhatia, Mansi Vira, Harsha Amin, Pinky Patel, Taniya Arora, Viren Trivedi, Radhakrishnan, and Satish Patel for taking time out of their busy schedules and advancing SAMHIN’s mission to serve the South Asian community.
