On a different note: A small pet peeve. If something is called out in an editing process as being not present, thats a clue that the delivery hasnt been executed appropriately. Or if something is *clearly misinterpreted* by the editor, thats a clue the passage wasnt delivered correctly (unless of course were talking just plain oversight on the editors part.) This is not usually the time to say to an editor No, this was my intent, and thats clear several chapters later. This is the time to analyze the passage and adjust so the intended point is more clearly expressed. Readers will set aside books. Editors will not. An author does not have the opportunity to go back in and say, You misinterpreted the point of that particular passage. What I intended was... once a reader has reviewed the book. What you intend needs to be present. The editors job is to make sure what you intend is what is being received by the reader.
