On a personal note, I actually got to meet Hazel Ward-Redman (TRUE STORY). I was in the Naps Boys Choir and we were supposed to go on television. I sprained my ankle just before going on air and was perfectly fine with NOT GOING ON CAMERA IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE NATION. However Hazel was such a nice person, she made sure that I was comfortable, and then at the last moment she got this chair in front of everyone else so I could sit and still sing. I was really, really, REALLY embarrassed but she was a nice lady and was only doing what she thought I wanted to do. If only she knew... From The Heritage Project Trinidad and Tobago: Today there are thirteen but for roughly 29 years, Trinidad and Tobago had practically one television broadcaster, Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT). And because there was only one, there was high quality control concerning who got on air. Television personalities such as Allyson Hennessy, Dale Kolasingh and Bobby Thomas, alll of which were known for their distinguished voices, perfect diction and onscreen charisma. Hazel Ward-Redman was another such icon; she used these qualities to highlight and promote arts and culture on programmes such as 12 And Under, Hazels Startime and Teen Talent, as well as many other easonal television specials. This video clip should be a nostaglic trip for those who remember her and reinforces why she became such an institution in local television. We miss you Aunty Hazel.
