On behalf of Linda and I, we extend our deepest appreciation to those who worked at, attended and sent sentiments for our retirement party. The special presence of my friend, General Secretary Paul McPhail of the Independent Assemblies of God, International in Canada and Bishop Brad Reynolds, who drove from the Grand Rapids area warmed our hearts. Dr. Preston Heath of the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and Bishop Jay Walden of the Church of God of the Mountain Assembly were here Tuesday night, along with the General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Church of Christ of Argentina, Ceferino Martinez and the Assistant General Superintendent of Brazil, Paulo Davi. A number of people attended whom we have not seen here for a few years was a heart-warming blessing. I particularly appreciate all the cards given although with an hours sleep the night before, we just havent got to reading them. 22 letters from denominational leaders and friends have arrived, each from organizations or up to 200 times larger than ours. They were all so eloquent and touching, it seemed I was reading someone elses biography. They spoke of how we have labored together to further the work of the larger Pentecostal community around the world. Much work went into it. The speakers were very good, but I wished one had not prepared notes. He had a miscommunication and thought it was a roast. Just for the record, I cannot vouch for any negative stuff he may have said and the doctors report of the injured arm he attributes to me was from a West Virginia doctor and may not be credible. My daughters were involved with Crystal making the video. Two things about that. I dont believe I ever wore a diaper for my mother said I was born grown up. Secondly, Crystal thanked me for her doing the video. She said it would save time preparing for my funeral. Come to think of it, it will save a number of people the time coming to my funeral because the only thing missing this time was a body.
