On behalf of Zone leaders Brenda Huband and Dr. Francois Belanger, - TopicsExpress

On behalf of Zone leaders Brenda Huband and Dr. Francois Belanger, we want to let all Calgary Zone staff know that Alberta Health Services is working with the Government of Alberta, and many local municipalities to address issues resulting in from the intense rain occurring in the southern portions of the province. There are currently 10 municipal states of local emergency (SOLE) in effect within the Calgary and South Zones, including: Canmore, City of Calgary, Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, and High River. There is extensive localized flooding and several bridges and roads at risk in and around these communities. We are working to assess the impact on health care facilities, services and staff located in all of these communities. And we have established open communications with all of these municipalities and are monitoring the quickly changing flooding picture, on an ongoing basis. Full efforts are underway by AHS to support impacted facilities and services. Resources had been, and will continue to be mobilized in the areas at greatest risk to support our staff and facilities. Currently, we are monitoring the needs of the Canmore Hospital and preliminary evacuation planning is underway for the High River Hospital should the flood risk increase in the community. Please remain vigilant as this situation continues to evolve. All communication is being coordinated through the Calgary ZEOC at [email protected] Frank Allsopp Director, Emergency/Disaster Management - Calgary Zone On behalf of the Calgary Zone Emergency Operation Centre
