On one of my flights back to Evansville from Fort Smith when I was - TopicsExpress

On one of my flights back to Evansville from Fort Smith when I was with Ball Plastics we sat on the tarmac for an hour awaiting takeoff after boarding. Being a very nervous flier after about 20 minutes I pressed the call button on my overhead and the flight attendant arrived a minute or so later. I asked what the holdup was and she responded we were on one of their older planes and they were having some mechanical problems and should have them resolved shortly. Another twenty-five minutes later and we are still awaiting takeoff. People, I notice, are getting restless and aggitated. I press the call button on the overhead again. Soon the stewardess arrives. I advise her of my previous inquiry and ask why twenty-five minutes later we are still idle. She replies they had found another mechanical problem and had just about completed the reapairs allowing us to to depart shortly. Finally about fifteen minutes later we had a rather rough departure due to some crosswinds as explained to me by the stewardess after utilizing my call button again and inquiring as to why. She also indicated the pilot was relatively new with little experience in departing or landing in cross winds. Things did not improve as the flight continued. It was very rough and bumpy even after attaining our altitude and levelling off. I noticed shortly after levelling off the lights began flickering throughout the cabin. My first thought was a short in the system and potential fire hazaard. Being nervous I again pressed the call button for the attendant. She quickly arrived looking a bit aggitated but asked what I needed. I addressed the flickering lights to her and asked if there was a problem with them. She replied Ill take care of it and departed. A few minutes later all the cabin lights went out. Evidently she solved the problem by turning off all the lights. A passenger across the aisle from me apologized for listening in on all my conversations with the attendant but requested Whatever you do, dont inquire about the engines!
