On the anniversary of my Daddys passing Im reminded of a little - TopicsExpress

On the anniversary of my Daddys passing Im reminded of a little story that was told to me when I was a child. I find it fitting to share this story today because I am currently residing in the small town where the events took place roughly 30 years ago. Apalachicola is situated in Floridas panhandle and anyone who has ever visited can attest to the general lack of law and order in this particular region. This night was no exception to the rule as my father found himself attending the nightly gathering at the towns local watering hole. No one knows for sure whether someone had ruffled his feathers this evening or it was purely for the sake of shock, but he walked through the doors quietly, opened the pillow case he had carried in and threw a rattlesnake on the pool table. After successfully upsetting the entire establishment he was asked to pick that snake up and leave. And he did. This may sound extreme and offensive to some, but he was truly a wild man. One of a kind. The type of character you may come across once in a lifetime. And anyone who knew him would say Yep, that sounds like Wesley Carl. You could never stay mad at him for the outlandish things he did because underneath you knew his heart was good. I inherited from him my great love for animals, my compassion for humanity, my humor, my wandering spirit and my wild heart. And the legend of the snake man lives on
