On the morning of Aidil Adha, about 52 years ago, a baby boy was born. As the mother was recovering from the ordeal of child delivery, she held the boy up for a while. He was passed around for everyone to see. Then they were thinking, what shall we call him. No one had any idea. So the grandmother said, well, today is Aidil Adha, so lets call him Azhar. And so, Azhar it was. And the whole kampong, in true Kedah tradition, call him Art. Selamat merayakan Aidil Adha everyone. Moga kita sentiasa berkorban untuk kesejahteraan kita dan kesejahteraan semua. Al-Quran: 22:37 It is not their meat Nor their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety That reaches Him: He Has thus made them subject To you, that ye may glorify Allah for His guidance to you:* And proclaim the Good News To all who do right. This is the true end of sacrifice, not propitiation of higher powers, for Allah is One, and He does not delight in flesh and blood, but a symbol of thanksgiving to Allah by sharing meat with fellow humans. The solemn pronouncement of Allahs name over the sacrifice is an essential part of the rite - Yusuf Ali commentary. Note: No no....this post is not about my birthday. I dont celebrate my birthday on Aidil Adha (in fact I dont celebrate my birthday at all - haha). Just explaining how I was named.
