On the occasion of the claim of the German ambassador that European Commissioner Johannes Hahn in conversation with Nikolic did not ask that Serbia recognize Kosovo, Tomislav Nikolic asked for the response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic yesterday, in an interview with reporters and editors of several Belgrade media, criticized the statement of the German ambassador to Belgrade Heinz Wilhelm. The Ambassador said several days ago that nobody asked Serbia to recognize the independence of Kosovo and that, as far as he knows, “neither European Commissioner Johannes Hahn sought something like this”. With such statement Ambassador Wilhelm has, according to the President of Serbia, overstepped the bounds of good manners and “indirectly accused the President of the Republic that he was lying”.
