Thursday afternoon an incident occurred at Riverfront Park with one of our camp groups in which a child went missing from the rest of the group. The child was reported lost, found and returned home safely. We have sincerely apologized to the parents of this child and all campers’ families. We deeply regret the stress and concern this has caused. Ensuring the safety of all campers is our first priority. We took immediate action to ensure a similar incident will not occur in the future. This morning we met with all YMCA Camp staff to review the incident, to identify the exact breakdown and reiterate all protocols and safety procedures with staff. The human resources department is actively reviewing all staff involved in the incident. We are deeply thankful the child is safe.
