On the surface of this stream flows a picture that people see. They skip their rocks and disturb the flow and all the while they think they know what this picture is all about, assuming they understand inside and out. They traipse through the shallow parts and trample under their feet those things they believe to be, never giving thought to the real things that are only found in the deep. But I followed this stream one day because I had to know what lies beneath the surface and where she goes. She has a heart that loves so much it hurts and she never lets you go once you’re in her flow. Her smile is more contagious than the frown that people see when they are mean and her eyes are full of life when you look past yesterday’s pain. Her strength ebbs away all the stones thrown her way and over time they form a beauty that is crystal clear. So I stare past the surface, careful not to quake. She allows me to see what others will never see… that’s their mistake.
