On the way back from the Nirvana Road trip, one of the stops I - TopicsExpress

On the way back from the Nirvana Road trip, one of the stops I made was at bridge #104 at Bull Canyon Creek in New Mexico. Located between Albuquerque and Tucumcari. This is the bridge where my brother lost his life. He was just shy of his fourth birthday. My sister and I (ages 4 and 1 respectively) were also in the vehicle along with our Dad. We went off the bridge into the orange clay flash flood waters below and he was washed away through an open window. His body was never found. This bridge has only fallen into my path a few times since that date in 1966 with and without other family members and it always brings so much sadness and pain. So, this time I stopped at bridge #104 and spent a moment watching the sunrise. Spending a little time with a memory that has shredded an entire family into ruin because they just couldnt let go. That little boy would have been my big brother. Taking the time to finally let go of the finger pointing and fault that landed us on that bridge that fateful night took a little time, but I just couldnt carry that load any longer. It isnt us that should be crying for ourselves and what weve lost at the hand of another, but for a child that lost his life that night. How our lives changed on a hinge pin that was only one child is astounding. A most profound example of the Butterfly Effect I have ever experienced. Once I was able to see it for what it is, I was happy and comforted that I was able to share that moment of clarity at his site with a beautiful sunrise . Now, when I pass over bridge #104, I can remember something positive and that my Big Brother Donald was able to teach.
