On the way to yoga this morning, I thought about all the letting - TopicsExpress

On the way to yoga this morning, I thought about all the letting go that we do on the eve of the new year in order to prepare for our new beginning; as much much I would like for all this stuff to disappear, the truth is that the difference between the old year and the new year is a couple of minutes; the other truth is that we are human and there is the possibility that these old things may pop back up; So I asked God for help with transforming these emotions into something lighter, something that helps to brings joy into my heart; Two emotions that I struggle with most are guilt and fear- fear to have the courage to accept love in my life; so I asked for courage and faith; then I thought about my most favorite prayer that encompasses everything- The prayer of St. Francis of Assisi: Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; Oh divine master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. I was thankful for the confirmation that my prayer was heard because right at the end of class, I heard those exact words being played in a song version by Sarah McLachlan- which I had never heard before. 1. Be okay that old stuff may come up- combat it with something positive. 2. Have faith that your desires are heard and be mindful of the ways they are received. Thank you for a beautiful practice, Caren! Happy New Year!
