On this date in 1961, Alfred Hitchcock Presents premiered one of its most powerfully suspenseful episodes, directed by the Master himself. Bang! Youre Dead featured young Billy Mumy, later of Lost In Space fame, as a youngster rambling about his little town not knowing that the toy gun he is using to play cowboy is not only real, but loaded. Somewhat similar to a famous sequence in his 1936 thriller SABOTAGE, Hitch had learned through trial and error that putting children in harms way had to be done correctly. This is a tense half hour!
