On thursday, 30 Oct 2014, during a memorial service, Minister of Sports and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula mentioned something crucial to and about soccer players, but I think it does not only apply to soccer players. It applies to everyone whose life is progressing and where one is earning a luxurious income. He said, Soccer players, your support and fame attract unholy friends and companions. These unholy friends come to us, but they are wolves in sheepskin. Allow me to be a bit critical on what he said... Mr Mbalula is advicing us to always be careful, and to cautiously choose the people we associate ourselves with. Some people come to our lives with good intentions, and some are there to just exploit us. To support Mr Mbalulas statement, a Sports Journalist by the name of Tiyani Mabasa once said, Another thing is they (people with luxurious incomes) are often surrounded by bad company with friends that are only around for their fame and money. My cousin, Malesela Celestine Chokoe, once said, Warra, some people will use you in such a way that you wont even understand. His utterances are not far from what the latter gentlemen said. During your struggles and surviving eras, people distance themselves, but when you prosper, they come running. Some come there to advice you on how to handle certain situations or even ask how you managed to reach there, while some are just there to enjoy your minimal success. I edge you to ask your creator, through prayer or any other means, to give you wisdom to differentiate between these people who are in our lives for bad reasons. Late last year, I said, Some of you have approximately 2000 facebook friends or even more. On that note, I think it is useless to have 30 active facebook friends out of those 2000. Ask yourself what the 1970 friends are there for! Im certain that not more than 28 friends out of the 1970 are innocent followers. The rest are just waiting for your break-through. Its part of life. There is nothing you can do with it, besides knowing who your true companions are. Fortunate enough, I know you all. I know all your roles in my life and Im blessed to have such a special ability, the ability to differentiate and notice different personality traits. Ask yourself this questions, Will all these people be around if I had nothing? Was she gonna accept me if I didnot appear on TV? And etc? Wakeup and smell the coffee. Thank you.
