On tonights menu: A mix of brown rice, red rice, wild rice, and quinoa. This is my second encounter with quinoa. The first time, it was in a citrus salad mixed with couscous (which Ive had a love of for many years). I couldnt detect any flavor other than the couscous, however. This appears to be the case here, too. I MIGHT be tasting the quinoa, but it might also be the red rice, which Ive never heard of before and, to the best of my knowledge, have never eaten before. Its a very tasty grain mix (with 8 grams of protein) -- nutty and chewy, and utterly delicious with a touch of soy sauce. Wait, is soy sauce vegetarian? Its just the liquid from pressed, boiled, fermented paste consisting of soybeans, roasted grain, brine, and Aspergillus oryzae or Aspergillus sojae molds, right? Its not made from cockroaches, like we were told as kids? *Runs to check Google* ;)
