Once Upon a Time, at a Pennsic, long, long ago (seriously, early 1980s!), there was a lady who came past my merchant booth in front of the barn, every day, wearing Tudor and Elizabethan gowns that literally stopped traffic! People would stop her everywhere she went and make inquiries as to how long it had taken her to sew such masterpieces, and about the many details. Each day her gown was more spectacular than the last. She was quite a learned lady, and was more than happy to tell people how to make that kind of garb. Each day though, she would comment Wait until you see my War Tudor Dress on Saturday! Naturally we all expected to see something that would be so amazing it would eclipse all other gowns! Saturday came, and with it, much anticipation to see this ladys grand War Tudor Dress! She came up the road, past the showers, and toward the barn, leaving a wake of mirth behind her! It was indeed a Tudor gown, complete with all the little details, right down to having a bodice that was covered in intricate beading. The fabric? Standard issue army camouflage, green, of course! It was her WAR Tudor!
