Once a Bum always a Bum Steinbeck John: I have spent much of my life on the road. Very little of it in any form of luxury. I cant count the number of times that people asked me how you do it, did it? People read the odd book, dream a little and think of Kerouac Jack or some other beatnic and take a rosey eyed view of it all. It just isnt like that in reality. There is a lot of hardship and pain but the rewards are experience and reality as few will ever see. This small video gives you an insight into things,(Apart from being really bad at what they are trying to do!) The next time you see a tramp or a bum understand that its something that you most people cannot do, even if they tried or wanted to, and also that a bum or a tramp or a hobbo is not a down and out, nor a basket case but somebody that either chose to leave the system and live outside the box or events in life transpired to that place at that moment!
