Once again Democrats in Colorado are telling the citizens government knows better how to live their lives than they do. Yesterday in the state House Democrats pushed a resolution mandating small business owners pay more in labor costs. Democrats plowed forward despite the fact that 57% of business owners said they would have to lay people off if the measure passed. In fact, the Congressional Budget Office predicts over 500,000 people will lose their jobs if the resolution becomes law. In my six years in the legislature I have fought for policy to protect our small business owners and the people they employ, because I know they are the engine that drives our economy.
