Once again its the 4th of July A day when Americans fly The flag of their nation With much jubilation While noshing on Moms apple pie According to Francis Scott Key USA is the land of the free But recent events With malicious intents Have disturbed to a major degree The government tapes conversations And millions of inter-relations On phones and the net But theres no need to fret If you buy all their lame explanations The war in Iraq was obscene Where a competent killing machine Invaded a nation With no provocation In Bushs and Cheneys regime And then theres the blowers of whistles Facing death, time in jail and dismissals For telling us all Of the startling gall Of the people controlling the missiles Weve all heard of a fellow named Snowden Who did some unsanctioned downloadin’ Which upset Uncle Sam Now he lives on the lam As he hopes he won’t soon be explodin’ In America tortures fair game Since Dick Cheney assigned a new name To the anguish and hurt That is used to subvert International law, to his shame So lets say Happy Day to the yanks As they barbecue burgers and franks While their taxes support Crooked banks and the sort And the makers of missiles and tanks
