One Half Million Enrolled on ObamaCare By Months End According - TopicsExpress

One Half Million Enrolled on ObamaCare By Months End According to an internal memo from the Obama Administration to HHS’s Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the month of October is projected to yield nearly 500,000 enrollees for all of the 51 healthcare insurance exchanges. This memo, obtained by the Associated Press and dated September 5th, is said to outline enrollment projections, state by state, for each month through the March 31 enrollment period. I think we can all agree that a half million enrollees just isn’t going to happen but it sure would be entertaining to watch and listen to Jay Carney address the question. The actual number of people that have enrolled for ObamaCare remains as elusive as Big Foot. What is likely the most credible source of enrollment data for the 36 government run exchanges has been provided by Bob Laszewski, the president of Health Policy and Strategy Associates. Through direct communication with the major healthcare insurance providers Mr. Laszewski concludes that there have been about 5000 enrollments submitted to these providers over the first two weeks of the rollout. It must be noted that many of these 5000 enrollments are families so the actual number of people enrolled is in excess of 5000 but certainly not a substantial number. When the HealthCare.gov website starts to play nice we should see an increase in enrollments, at least that’s what the folks over at HHS are claiming but skeptics who have seen the skyrocketing cost of healthcare insurance on the exchanges are not as optimistic. The 14 states and DC that are operating their own exchanges seem to be fairing quite a bit better with enrollment but again, it’s really hard to nail down what the actual numbers are. The Advisory Board Company, a leading global research, technology, and consulting firm in the healthcare industry, looks to have done the best job on wrapping its hands around the state run exchange numbers reporting that 42,000 people have enrolled in the 15 independent exchanges during the first two weeks of the rollout. So, let’s do a little loose math just for fun …….. Using the DC and 14 state run exchange 2 weeks total of 42,000 we can average the per week, per state to be 1,400 people. Apply the per week, per state average to 50 states and DC and you will come up with 71,400 enrolled nationwide per week. Let’s assume we are off by 50% so bring the average weekly enrollment number to 107,100 or 474,300 for a 31 day month. This still falls short of the 500,000 October 31 target set by the Obama Administration and again, this is being very gracious with the numbers. Using the same 71,400 per week average and the same assumption that we are off by 50%, this puts the six month enrollment at 2.8 million, still nearly 250% shy of the 7 million target and again, this is being VERY gracious with the numbers.
