One in custody from the Mitchell Attempted Vehicular Assault against a State Trooper this morning. A person of interest has been taken into custody regarding an Attempted Vehicular Assault against a State Trooper that occurred just after 9:30 this morning. Taken into custody was 46 year old Richard Cobb, of 530 South 9th Street in Mitchell. Police are still looking for information on the whereabouts of the unidentified second person, a white male, unkempt and unshaven, late 30’s early 40’s of age. Earlier today, just before 9:30 am, an Indiana State Police Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a green Chevrolet S10 pickup truck for a traffic violation. After initially refusing to stop, the driver led the Trooper to the Lehigh Cement Plant near Mitchell. Once the pickup stopped, the driver waited for the Trooper to walk up, when without warning, the driver attempted to run over the Trooper. The Trooper was not hit and proceeded to give chase to the pickup. The pickup truck was located shortly thereafter, unoccupied near the Lehigh Plant, off of Meridian Street just north of US60. Spring Mill State Park and the Mitchell schools were placed in lockdown til 1PM this afternoon because of the situation.
