One key reason why bands of the 90s feature more prominently in these pages here was due to the work of fans who actively documented the scene by way of fanzines, photos and recordings. And all of which was achieved in the pre-digital/internet age, when writers doubled up as printers and publishers. Photographers didnt just snap pictures but were darkroom technicians. And gig organisers were also flyer distributors. BigO magazine, first published in 1985, laid the foundation for much of this DIY work. As it turns out decades later, some of the bands featured in those years have now forgotten what they did, only to be reminded by the work of documentarians who have kept their records. So, grand salutations to all you documentarians. Your work is no less integral to the scene than the music itself. BigOs first issue in 1985. https://facebook/groups/sohappysg/permalink/579453028857683/ ------------------------------------------------- BigO magazine September 1992.
