One month ago yesterday we arrived In Cotacachi to start our new lives as expats. Its been a whirlwind month!. We have met a lot of people, pretty much learned our way around the town, have a few favorite places to go, but are still settling in. Its been easier for me than Gloria, who still misses her stuff. And, no its not a materialistic type of thing - could be a cheap sweater she bought at WalMart, but we didnt have room to bring it, and she wishes she had it here. It has been colder than we anticipated, and really would like to repack the six suitcases we brought! Gloria has had a pretty bad cold for the past ten days (Sylvia is our newest best friend), and that has been a damper on her enjoying our new life also. But, today is our 12th wedding anniversary, and Im taking her to dinner at El Lenardo (sp?) Restaurant across from Sylvias Pharmacy, so hopefully well have a nice day. Will watch some of the horse parade, watch the Eagles beat up Jacksonville :), and have some R&R with Marshmellow this evening. Were still in the process of looking for our permanent housing, and now are rethinking what we want. At first we didnt want to be in town, but as we learn and see more of the town, there are some really nice places, and that should open up a lot more opportunities for us. Still have time, so not worried yet. Now heading to market to get the food for the week. Making eggplant parmesan, so all things are good!
