One more MASTERPIECE from my friends of Krom - Phnom Penh!!! Congratulations Chris Minko (Mekong Sessions) and Chamroeun Sisters for this genius work!! I gotta say Big City, Sin City is among my favorites, it simply gives me goosebumps right at the beginning with those powerful and, almost, liturgical vocals by Chamroeun Sisters, which evokes the stunning and dreamy golden glorious soul of the Khmer culture contrasting with its dark, represented by the cruel lyrics and moody husky voice of Mr. Minko. Krom shows us how to perfectly mix two opposite (heterogeneous) elements like the whimsical and ethereal with the dark and gritty in a dreamish-nightmare sound experience, thus teaching us what the Mekong Delta Blues truly is made of. Big City, Sin City is a crazy trip in which you go from the dream realm to hell in a split of a second! KROM ON, GUYS!!!
