One more reflection from me on the eve of Yom Kippur. The Kol - TopicsExpress

One more reflection from me on the eve of Yom Kippur. The Kol Nidre is an Aramaic declaration recited in synagogue before the beginning of the evening service on every Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Though not a prayer, this chanted recitation (always sung by a chazzan, or cantor) creates a dramatic introduction to Yom Kippur. It is written in Aramaic (which was the language of both the Talmud and Jesus), not Hebrew. Its name is taken from the opening words, meaning all vows. The first talkie, that is, a feature film with sound was, of course, The Jazz Singer, which was released in theatres in 1927. This was the first song that a movie audience ever heard. youtube/watch?v=mTufuWn3jv8
