One morning, my dad drove me and my sister to school at UST. When he was about to leave, a man suddenly just collapsed in front of his car. This man was a complete stranger. He was so dirty. Instead of leaving the man alone or trying to avoid him, my dad went out of his vehicle and talked with the man. This guy said he was in terrible pain! Dad helped him got up, he assisted him go inside the car and drove this man, this stranger to UST hospital. Dad described him as dirty, greasy, smelly but it did not matter at that time whether the car will become filthy or even if this guy has bad intentions to hurt him. He just recalled the story of the Good Samaritan and he saw Jesus in him. When they reached the hospital, he called the emergency staff, gave them some money for his medications, and prayed for the sick man. In today’s Gospel, we read the passage, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”. Neighbor does not literally mean the people that live close to your house, but it means anyone, even a complete stranger. Me, I am not too bold, or courageous to do what my dad did. I pray that God will continue to mold me into that kind of character. Just like what we read in today’s gospel, “Honor your Father”. I honor God the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I also honor my earthly, physical father, my Daddy as he celebrated his birthday yesterday. I honor him for being a servant of the Lord and a follower of Christ, not only in words but more importantly, in deeds. He loves his family, his friends, the church, the community and he loves his neighbors, even strangers. May we all obey God’s commandment to love. To love, to forgive and to accept. May God’s love reflect in our lives so we can love everyone, be a blessing to all and make this world a brighter place to live in, one step and one day at a time. Amen! (LMP) Prayer: Let us share God’s message of love and sing this song, “Tell the world of His Love” youtu.be/7Se5nWiELoI
