One new challenge I have thinking about the U.S. from Mexico is: how do I explain the oppression of a system, the U.S. system, that works too well? There are plenty of corrupted ineffective governments but how do you explain a corrupted system which works too well? How do you explain a form of fascism which automatically rose from the systems we chose to live under? What we are experiencing in the U.S. is capitalism eradicating any possibility for human rights or democracy through its control both over government and media. It is a new form of fascism. It is automatic fascism. The great trick is: this kind of capitalist fascism works by subduing the public, by playing to its material desires, while gutting independent thought or existence.
