One of my Quran teacher in Syria became my good friend. She - TopicsExpress

One of my Quran teacher in Syria became my good friend. She was mother of 6 children but mashAllaah was so determined to teach Quran to the sisters in the village. I would walk with some sisters all the way to her house, up in the hills, though the dirt road - and find her humble home. All the sisters would open their mushaf and shed listened to all of us one by one. Afterwards, everyone would leave. But she would insist I stay for lunch. I remember how far she would go to make sure I get to eat whatever I wanted. Nour would play in her garden. She loved their duck. So Um Anas promised that her oldest son will go to the next village and buy one of her. And he did. Me and Nour loved that duck quacking early in the morning - made me laugh. What I loved most about my sisters was that they were in love with the Quran and held strictly to deen of Allaah - but when it came to joking and laughing, they let themselves go. Um Anas would crack me up the most mashAllaah. Her and one of the older ladies in the village (mother of 10 grown sons) actually had a wrestling match - unbeknown to the men outside the room! The grandmother actually put her up in a good lock. Um Anas just laughed it all off - and in the process gave all of us a break from the mundane life. Her husband was known in the village as one of the most respectable men. I received news that he was killed by a barrel bomb in Aleppo yesterday. Her children now become orphans and she is now left without a companion. Inna lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi rajioon - Sister NadaUmm Nour >> WinterInSyria
