One of my favorite Ted stories ever, dating back to circa 2001 in Eugene: Before the infamous Durango, Ted had The Bucket. The Bucket was a late 70s / early 80s Buick. It was one of the early cars that talked to you, and told such cryptic things as The door is a jar. The Bucket took us many strange places, and said many laughable things. One day, driving out to Veneta, I believe, pretty far from civilization, the car said something it had never said before. It announced proudly: All monitored systems are functioning normally. 20 seconds later, the motor started sputtering, and the car died, stranding everyone on a rural road in nowheresville, OR. Later, it was determined that this must have been some engineers idea of a bad joke. Just as the car was about to completely crap out, it would deliver that last one-liner. And thus, the story of the bucket ended, and soon after, the story of the Durango began...
