One of my friends on FB just posted an statement that Joan Rivers was mean and that was how she made her fame... First, let me say this...Lets not cast dispersions on the dead...What are the deceased to say to that now??? Second: Don Rickles has been an insult comic for well over 60 years...I can assure you, no one that has ever known him would call him mean...ITS A FREAKIN PERSONA...A SHOW FOLKS!!! You dont have to like that kind of humor, but before you choose to speak badly of the dead...THINK!!! Joan Rivers was an amazing performer and a COMEDIAN!!! Having never met her, I am unable to actually have an opinion on whether she was mean or not. What I can say is that sarcasm, in many forms, can appear harsh, however, if her sarcasm and persona were not accepted by the main stream, she would not have built the empire she did! Thanks to her ground breaking talents, she opened the doors for many female comedians (including myself) to achieve the recognition and the notoriety that women before she were unable to!!! To speak ill of the dead is really unbecoming. She was not cruel to get ahead...SHE PERFORMED A SHOW that made her way!!! Actors and Stage Performers are NOT the persona they show you during a performance!!! For anyone to think that is only validation to their talents!!! In reference, I share with you a few names that could fit that bill, however, having knowing them personally, I assure you, they were not what you saw on stage or tv and movies!!! Sam Kennison was one of the kindest and fun people I had ever met...NOT what you saw on stage...John Candy was one of the rudest people I had ever met. NOT what you saw on stage...AN ACT IS JUST THAT!!!
