One of the best acts of the 1980s, this group was proficient with their instruments, wrote catchy tunes and had a debut album that was one of the best of the short-lived L.A-based Paisley Underground scene, a type of subgenre that featured a form of jangle pop (a la R.E.M.) that recalled the 1960s. While they would go in a more pop-oriented direction and their albums would become uneven, their singles were anything but. I am talking about....... The Bangles. Yes, The Bangles, a group to this day I keep in my personal catalog and have no problem throwing on at any time. And it helps that Susanna Hoffs was my first celebrity crush. Anyone who grew up in the 1980s, heres to a trip down memory lane. This track in particular had a calming chill effect and recalled the 1960s. According to co-writer Bill Steinberg it was like The Beatles meets The Byrds.
