One of the biggest flaws in U.S. foreign policy is our attitude - TopicsExpress

One of the biggest flaws in U.S. foreign policy is our attitude towards international aid. Instead of creating this web of interdependency between countries receiving and giving the aid (such a surplus food) we must provide struggling nations with the right tools and skills necessary to lift themselves out of poverty (such as learning how to effectively and sustainably farm- which also brings the struggling nation more jobs and economic strength) and be able to maintain their upword mobility once the aid-providing nation leaves, instead of growing dependant on the aid that will eventually stop. Our general problem-solving mindset towards foreign policy is using short term solutions which creates long term problems, instead of using long term and more sustainable solutions. Only when this general attitude and understanding is changed will the world start to see peace.
