One of the curious aspects of the lost Malaysian plane is that the US is the best in certain pertinent technologies that we dont talk about or freely share. And other countries have similarly classified capabilities. It wouldnt surprise me if there were undisclosed military or intelligence assets that have been deployed. Nor that theyd found key answers to what, and where, who, and how. Leading to a problem that it seems to me is always tricky: How do you make use of what you know without compromising how you know it? In this case, I think youd look for another country to act as your beard. Or even a respected newspaper somewhere else. Although sometimes you dont have a way. And you keep quiet. As it is famously, but falsely, claimed that Churchill did nothing to protect the people of Coventry in order to keep secret the vital fact that we could decrypt Enigma traffic. I have a hint of the problem on a modest level. People often confide in me. Sometimes its both sides in a dispute. And every so often, that poses a dilemma.
