One of the most effective ways to keep women paid lower than men is to forbid that they ever find out about it. I dont understand how republicans can demand that an employer have the right to refuse birth control due to religion, but an employee doesnt even have the right to discuss with another person what their own wage is. Exactly what rights do Republicans think we DO have? Apparently, the basic freedom of speech is not one of them. I am not talking about publishing my wage in the New York Times. I mean, almost half of workers cant reveal their wages to a colleague at the bodega on lunch break? Republicans do not see that as a freedom of speech infringement?
