One of the pieces of circumstantial evidence of guilt that the state has continued to argue exists in this case is that Jeff drove in the opposite direction of the hospital. Its a ludicrous allegation because what would he be trying to accomplish by that? Even the state has never suggested that this was a planned murder and that Jeff actually wanted this child to die. So what honestly would he be accomplishing by Intentionally driving in the wrong direction? When I was down in Mississippi and visited with Ruby & Billy, Jeffs grandparents who live just across the street from where Jeffs trailer was in 2002, I drove the route from the trailer to the hospital. It took about 10 minutes, and I was driving slowly because I wasnt real sure where I was going. When I got to the intersection where Rebecca indicated Jeff had gone through the stop sign, instead of taking a right toward the hospital, I was able to see exactly where Jeff described hed immediately turned around after hed missed that right turn. In his panic to get to the hospital, how much of a delay to you think this U-Turn really caused?
